The digital revolution is already here. The question is: who is designing it?
On the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (11F), at Bloonde we want to highlight a fact that is far from neutral: in Spain, less than 20% of ICT specialists are women.
Technology is not impartial
The algorithms, platforms, artificial intelligence systems, and digital solutions we use every day reflect the perspectives of those who create them. That is why we need more women in technology: not only to meet labor market demand, but to design a more diverse, ethical, and representative digital future.
The technology we build today shapes how we work, how we communicate, and how we live tomorrow.
Talent that breaks linear career paths
At Bloonde, we believe talent does not always follow a straight path. Many scientific and technological vocations need a second opportunity to fully develop.
We would like to share two success stories:
Mª Teresa Castro worked for more than ten years as a nurse and laboratory technician until COVID became the turning point that led her to radically change her career and pursue the IT sector, which had always attracted her. After completing her web development studies, she applied for Bloonde’s Second Chance Scholarship, seeking her first opportunity in a competitive and still biased industry.
"After finishing your studies, it’s very difficult for a company to take a chance on you and support your growth," she explains. "At Bloonde, I found that opportunity: I learned so much through the scholarship, and from day one I was part of a real work environment that allowed me to grow." Today, after completing her scholarship, she works as a backend developer at Bloonde and says she “continues learning every day."
We are also proud to have Aixa Márquez Evdenic on our team. Passionate about history and a graduate in Social and Cultural Anthropology, she has always been curious about other fields. In 2024, she began a Higher Technical Degree in Web Application Development, with a strong interest in backend development. She is currently completing her internship at Bloonde, where she says she has had the opportunity to experience the world of software development up close and in a way she had never experienced before.
Because supporting Women in Science and Technology means:
- investing in innovation
- broadening perspectives
- building stronger teams for the future
Today we celebrate 11F. And we continue working every day to ensure that technology is also built by women.
